Generally speaking, snoring often means not having a good night's rest. When snoring is constant and heavy, it can lead on the long term to serious health problems, mainly linked to the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. This happens to 20-40% of people who snore and depends mainly on age, weight and gender.
Noisy snoring can irritate those with whom the snoring person shares the bed with. And this leads not only to night's rest disorders, but it can also affect the relationship with the partner. Very often people tend to solve the problem by sleeping in different rooms (if there's enough space available), but this solution is not always enough. That's why a partner’s morning irritability can be fully comprehensible.
The partner of a snoring person, in fact, loses on average one hour of sleep every night and wakes up frequently. All this leads to tension within the couple and reduces working efficiency.
It can also happen that the partner is not the only one involved in the problem: during group journeys or holidays, the snoring person can be avoided and mocked.
